Under the pending development and disposition agreement, National CORE is slated to purchase the .59-acre site at 3rd Street and Dangler Avenue for approximately $1.4 million. After acquiring the property, the non-profit developer is expected to construct a four-story apartment complex which will feature 78 residential units above a 39-car parking garage.
The proposed apartment building, designed by Togawa Smith Martin, will include both affordable and supportive housing units, catering to formerly homeless persons and those earning at or below 60 percent of the area median income. Additionally, the project offer on-site supportive and workforce development services, as well as amenities such as a community room and a computer lab.
The project, which is located across the street from Metro's Maravilla Station, also calls for streetscape improvements along 3rd Street and new public green space.
Construction of the 3rd and Dangler development is expected to generate 300 jobs.
The $42-million development is partially funded through a $7-million contribution from Los Angeles County's affordable housing trust fund.
